Visit a Health Spa
A trip to the health spa has got to be the ultimate in relaxation and letting your normal everyday worries and stresses simply float away and disappear.
In today’s hectic world many people simply fail to take time out for themselves. Even if you try, its often difficult with all the distractions and interruptions going on around you. Its hard to find a relaxed, peaceful and content state of mind with all the other stressed out people around you constantly sending aggravation your way. Yet more people have simply forgotten what it means to be relaxed.
Sometimes the only way is to completely cut yourself off from the everyday hassles and simply take a few days for yourself.
Health spas are a fantastic way to do just that which is probably why there is now a growing range of choices available. There are quality health spas dotted all over the UK. Each offers a similar type of experience, but will also have their own unique flavour.
The benefits of a visit to health spa can also last much longer than the length of the actual visit. Many people find a new calmness and focus to their lives after visiting a Spa and really come out of a new, more optimistic and calm person.
Types of Health Spa
There are basically 3 main types of health spa, offering 3 types of overall experience:
Resort/Hotel Spas
These Spas are part of a larger hotel or resort complex. They will generally offer amenities such as the use of golf courses, tennis courts and restaurant dining as well as the Spa facilities. These are great if you are planning a holiday and would like to have a Spa experience as part of it while also having a more traditional holiday at the same time. On the down side, they are not the ultimate in ‘getting away from it all’.
Day Spas
A great choice if you have limited time or want to take regular time out to indulge yourself. You might just go for one treatment or a whole day of treatments for a more complete Spa experience. Many Spas run days called Pamper Days which are very reasonably priced.
Destination Spas
These are something special and the best choice if you really want to get away from it all for more than a day. Typically people will be taking 2-5 day breaks at the Spa, and importantly everyone there has come for the Spa experience and to relax. Many destination spas offer extremely sensuous, immersive experience and luxurious Spa facilities, food and sleeping arrangements.
The Spa Experience
Spas offer a wide range of beauty, relaxation, and mind & body treatments. Some examples are
- Massages
- Manicures
- Pedicures
- Floatation
- Aroma therapy
- Reflexology
- Body Scrubs
- Facial treatments
- Hair treatments
If you are visiting a spa for a day or more you may have a program for the day that includes a number of treatments as well as time to do you own thing using the Spa’s facilities such as gym, sauna, hydrotherapy pool etc. On day visits or longer you will often be treated to a fantastic breakfast and lunch of your choice.
Single or as a couple
Some spas are for women only who tend to go alone or with friends, some cater for both men and women. Increasingly we are seeing Spas offering experiences tailored for couples too and partners often attend together.
Specialist Spas
In addition there are a wide range of specialist Spas around if you are looking for something specific, or just something interesting and away from the mainstream. For example some may specialise in some particular type of oriental massage or follow a particular ‘mind & body’ philosophy. Some Spas specialise in alternative healing and therapies or help people with particular medical conditions.
